In Syktyvkar we worked with students and staff to consider the kind of future we wanted and could foresee through our ongoing socially engaged art project, Northern Exchange. Over the course of a week we learned about the rich Komi culture and history of this city and the region. We met lecturers and students, learning about the work of the different departments. One of the highlights was a seminar by video conference for students and staff from Syktyvkar and the University of the Highlands and Islands. We gave talks about our Cold War projects and the work of students at Shetland College, University of the Highlands and Islands. We collected 75 triangles, enough to make one large piece for exhibition later in the year in Alaska.
